To abstract your eye from what would be otherwise viewed as mundane can aid in the greater understanding of the most simplistic of topics. The drum skin offers a study of shape, texture and form otherwise unexplored to the drummers themselves. These skins came about at the end of their musical value — discarded by the drummer, they left their personal impressions on these skins.

As every drummer is different, the marks they leave are a reflection of whom they are, and how they play their instrument. These serve as portraits, without any knowledge of the person behind the result.
